Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Seeing a Doctor
Can I see a doctor or nurse now?
Our clinic is open from 8.30 am-5:00 pm weekdays.
Please call to book an appointment.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
We understand that life can be unpredictable sometimes and you may need to change or cancel your appointment. We ask that you cancel as soon as you become aware that you are unable to make your appointment, in order to allow the opportunity for others to take your appointment slot.
Do I always have to see the same doctor?
We encourage people to get to know one doctor but for convenience, you are welcome to see any available doctors or nurses. We recommend for the continuity of your care that if you have an ongoing condition that you see your usual doctor where practical.
Who do I see when my doctor is away?
At Three Lakes Clinic if your regular doctor is away or unavailable you can see any of our doctors.
Can a doctor see me at home?
Yes, a doctor can make a home visit, but only if you are very unwell and cannot make it to the clinic. We cannot always visit urgently. Additional charges will apply.
Why is my GP often not ready to see me on time?
We do our best to keep to appointment times. However, we place priority on giving each patient the attention they need and it is often difficult to anticipate how long this will take. Sometimes the doctors have to look after someone urgently or liaise with the hospital before they can see you. Please let our receptionists know if you are concerned about the amount of time you have been waiting.
Why does a phone consultation cost the same as an ‘in-person’ consultation?
A phone consultation is a booked appointment requiring an allocation of the doctor’s time, just the same as an ‘in-person’ consultation

Test Results
How do I get my test results?
We will tell you if your test results are important. If we have not been in touch with you, this means they are normal. However, you can call us to check, if you prefer.
You can also see your results online if you have registered for Manage My Health. Most results will be ready within 3 days, but some, like biopsies or cervical smears, take longer.
Please note that our reception staff are not allowed to give out results, as they are not trained to explain what they mean.
Repeat Prescriptions
How to get a repeat prescription?
If you need a repeat prescription, there are a few ways to request it.
Call us on 07 346 1333. Press 1 to leave a message.
Ask our receptionists to pass your request to a doctor or nurse.
Use the Manage My Health online system.
Prescription Fees
There are fees for repeat prescriptions and additional charges for urgent or same-day prescriptions.
What about long-term medication?
Patients with long-term medication needs require at least one annual medical review by their doctor. Most will need a medical review every six months/three months/one month. Please discuss the frequency of your medical reviews with your doctor at your next appointment.
How long will it take?
If you don't need a doctor's appointment, we'll send your prescription to your pharmacy within 48 hours. If you do need an appointment, we'll give you a call.
